Paid opportunities
Journalists
We are seeking freelance, part-time journalists to write news or feature stories for Alaska Humanity News. This is an opportunity to explore everyday events from a deeper perspective that is not normally portrayed in newspapers.
A stipend of $50 to $100 is available for secondary articles, and up to $300 for our principal investigative monthly piece.

Advertising sales
We are looking for people to help sell display advertising for our paper. At the moment we are offering a pay scale that could be particularly rewarding: 40% commission for new ads, and 20% for repeats.
We are offering an alternative option for those seeking a guaranteed minimum pay: $7.15 per hour plus 20% for new ads, and 20% commission for repeat ads.

Distribution
We are seeking someone to complete the organization of our distribution plan for Alaska Humanity News. We have distributed the paper to about 200 locations, but some of the papers were placed on competitors racks.
We have ordered 70 newspaper racks, and want to have a clearly designed format for distribution of our papers.
We are expecting to pay about $200 for this one time task.
Manager and Layout/ Designer
We expect that these part-time positions will require a total of about 40 flexible hours per month (25 for Manager and 15 for Designer). The two jobs could be filled by the same person.
Duties of the Manager position include: assigning projects, making sure that our news articles and feature stories are written, organizing volunteers, editing, and coordination of advertising and distribution.
The qualifying applicant will have the ability to work well with a growing staff. We will consider an applicant who does not yet have all suggested skills. The job will involve close coordination with the editor and the volunteer staff.
Pay depending on the situation. We were planning on paying about $500 - $1,000 to a person or people who can fulfill the responsibilities.
