Center of understanding

The ‘center of understanding’ is a process of exploring fundamental questions about the dimensions of reality and industrial society. Seeing the truth requires humility, courage, and love. Humility, to find one’s presuppositions and challenge one’s beliefs. Courage, to find the flaw, wherever it lies, and boldly criticize cherished ideals. Love, to bring a healing vision, and focus on what is good.

We want to bring topics to understand to everyday public spaces in society. It is not necessary to build a large, expensive institution. Simple educational activities can be organized in malls, public markets, or open meetings. There is no limit to the range or depth of potential subjects. Simple learning activities can challenge and inspire people to comprehend, right in the midst of normal life.

At the core of every dilemma is an impossible question. At Huzanity School, this is the focus of every class meeting: activities to reflect, meditate, and bring a personal challenge to each of these conundrums. We must face the truth, whether it’s ugly or beautiful, trivial or profound. It’s here, at the center of understanding, that seemingly irreconcilable conflicts can be resolved.
