Intro: Creating 'centers'

Creating 'Humanity Centers'

Alaska Humanity News is meant to be a practical project of a center that has a strong vision about meaningful, vital society. This center would have a spirit strong enough to take in someone who was suffering because what is beautiful in them was wounded, and to nurture this and provide opportunities to express it in the world.

Click on the links at Projects we Support (on the right hand side of this page) for thoughts about possible elements of these centers. For a further exploration go to our Huzanity website and click on ‘Creating centers.’

Alaska Humanity News can be a force to publicize and develop news of these centers, and of the fundamental principles, model institutions, and social projects that lay at their foundation.  We also want to devote a portion of our resources to supporting projects of this kind. In each monthly issue we could introduce an event, celebration, or gathering that would explore a dimension of society that should and could be deepened and rescued. And we could provide support for this on an ongoing basis.

Help create these centers

Our primary goal is to create these centers—and we want to begin in Anchorage, in Portland, Oregon, and in at least one poor country such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Cuba, India, or Uganda.

Each of these centers could have a physical space, a newspaper or newsletter, and some (or all) of the projects listed below in ‘Projects we support.’ We have a budget of about $2,000 per month to start a center in Portland. And about $1,000 per month for the centers in poor countries.
