Why is this Hummer at the airport?
Why is there a gleaming new yellow Hummer prominently displayed at the new ‘Ted Stevens’ International Airport baggage claim area? It is the last thing new and old visitors to Alaska see before they step out into Alaska air.
What is the message airport officials are trying to get across? What message is being imparted, even if the officials are unaware of the effect of what they are doing? And what does all this say about Alaskans, who tacitly accept this statement about life in our state?
One of the goals of this new monthly newspaper is
to understand everyday things and situations that escape attention because they are omnipresent. Look through this paper to find other unusual features.
Understanding things and situations is an upcoming feature at Alaska Humanity News. Send us news about perplexing contradictions, about unexamined assaults on everyday life, and we will take a look inside the news, and outside the box, and publicize it.
Stayed tuned next month for the official explanation of the Airport Hummer.
