“A few years ago a drunk driver hit me. The impact crushed my nose, knocked out six of my teeth, and broke four ribs and both my legs. It destroyed my car. But the damage didn’t end there. The crash also shattered my sense of well being. Threw my future out of alignment. Broadsided my family. Rattled my confidence. Shook my faith. Derailed my career. Rocked my marriage. Devastated my wife. Terrified my children. Crushed my hopes. The crash was a long time ago. But me, my family--we’re all still feeling it.”
You aren’t prepared for the sudden death or injury of someone you love. Even long after a drunk-driving crash, survivors can still feel the impact. Again and again, every day.

MADD’s best kept secret is our free victim services. We’re one of the largest crime victim assistance organizations in the nation. MADD is established in serving bereaved and injured drunk driving victims/survivors. We help survivors survive. We’re a hand to hold, an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on. MADD understands and is here to help. MADD helps drunk driving victims/survivors with emotional support, untangling financial troubles and guidance through the court system.
Many drunk driving victims/survivors get involved in MADD as part of their healing journey to help prevent tragedies from striking others.
We hope more drunk driving victims/survivors come to MADD. We ask the public to tell family, friends and colleagues who’ve been impacted by drunk driving to call MADD for help. But MADD Victim Services can help. MADD knows how to help, because we’ve been there too. For more information about MADD Victim Services, Call 562-6890, email or visit maddalaska.com.
For twenty-four hour help, seven days a week, call 877-MADD-HELP. That’s 877-MADD-HELP or visit MADD.org. We help survivors survive.
MADD is seeking victims/survivors of impaired (under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs) driving crashes, to participate in Victim Impact Panels to help deter recidivism and educate potential offenders. Impact Panel goals are to: individualize and humanize the consequences of impaired driving, change attitudes and behaviors, allow victims/survivors an opportunity to tell their stories of personal loss, and ultimately save lives and prevent needless injuries.
